Plant Status Update #4

        Some of the abiotic factors our plants necessary to survival are the amount of water, soil, and the amount of light. If it does not get water which is necessary to all living things that are on this Earth. The biotic factors that affected our plant are our group members, and the worms that created part of the soil to make it a compost soil. Our plants are competing to get the most sun against the grasses that are growing right next to them. They are also fighting over the soil to get as low as possible to get the most amount of nutrients underground. They are determined in this struggle by who is the tallest and the strongest rooted to the ground. It is never clear when there is a winner in the race to see who is the better plant because there could be two plants that are the same height , but there is one with a deeper set of roots. It makes it complicated because if you keep on wanting to see if they will grow taller you will never know that the one that was the same height had stronger set of roots. There was probably some sort of symbiosis with some of the insects that were located near the plants. The type of ecological succession that is taking place here is secondary succession because there is succession from the old plants that were there from the existing soil. Since all of the plants that are growing are different species but based off of the original plants that were grown there this is secondary succession.
