Bees are described as some of the world’s most special and sacred animals. Although some people worship bees, there are many others that don’t consider the value them or the consequences if they started to disappear. During the last decade, bees have been dying in huge numbers. People have failed to notice the disappearance of bees. It will take extreme matters to happen for a critical mass of people to “wake up” to the plight of the bees. If we don’t realize the severity of the problem before its too late, it will lead to many problems involving vegetation scarcity and decrease in food production.
Bees are a big part of how vegetation grows. Flowers, trees, crops, and other plants all depend greatly on bees. With less bees, less plants and crops will be grown. These problems will lead to a shortage in food. Also, farmers won’t have much work because there would not be many crops for them to sell. With less crops, there would not be enough food for everyone. All of this chaos will be created just because a few, tiny, little bees that are being killed.
Bees also affect food production. A type of food that is made by bees is, honey. They make honey by collecting the nectar of plants that is used to lure the bees, so that they can participate in pollination (nba.org.nz). Honey is put into many products such as, hair products and skin care products. Bees are also responsible for beeswax and candles which will become hard to come by without the proper amount of wax (localharvest.org). There are still more products that contain honey within them. These products might not seem to matter, but in time, people will start to notice the difference. Food production will start to decrease along with the bee population if they continue to die.
There are many people who don’t consider the real consequences of not protecting the bees. They believe that bees are little unhelpful bugs. They also don’t realize how much bees do for us. This may be because of the bad reputation bees have of stinging. Some bees can be dangerous because so many people are allergic to them. Sometimes the sting of a bee can kill a person. This is what makes people not care about bees. Although some people have the right to despise bees, that should not stop them from participating in protecting the bees.
To conclude, bees have an extremely important value and purpose in the world. Many people don’t understand, that without bees, life will be very different. If bees start to die, there will be less vegetation and decrease in food production. This could lead to less jobs for farmers and factory workers. This is what has to happen for people to “wake up” to the plight of the bees. This is also what is going to happen if we don’t realize the severity of the problem before it is too late.
